Open Call - Works on Paper Benefit - NYC

Open Call for Artists!
Works on Paper
Exhibition-Benefit
March 8-15, 2008

Winter 2008

Dear Artist Friends,

AAI, a nonprofit visual arts organization, invites you to donate small works on paper (including prints, drawings, paintings, collage, photographs, digital prints, etc.) for our upcoming Exhibition-Benefit Works on Paper at Cuchifritos opening Saturday, March 8 and running through Saturday, March 15, 2008.

The sale of all donated work will support AAI's Rotating Studio Program on the Lower East Side, and a host of other contemporary art programs.

The weeklong Exhibition-Benefit provides artists with an opportunity to display their work to new audiences and potential collectors. The affordability* of the work also allows artists to be collectors and provides established collectors with an opportunity to inexpensively invest in a diverse selection of artists!

We hope that you will consider supporting AAI by donating a small work on paper to our benefit; please feel free to forward this email to all your artist friends; AAI needs your help now more than ever in order to continue operating programs for visual artists!

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you at the benefit opening on March 8th, and your work on the gallery walls!

Best Regards,

Nancy Friedemann and Charley Friedman

Benefit Co-Chairs

How To Submit Work for the Exhibition-Benefit:

1. Please select 1 to 5 unframed works on paper to donate that you feel most comfortable displaying to a new audience and potential collectors (prints, drawings, paintings, collage, photographs, digital prints, etc.). Work should be NO BIGGER than 14" x 19" ; and NO SMALLER THAN 4" x 4"

2. On the back of each work, write your name, address, phone number, medium, title, and website (so your collector can contact if they wish). Please make sure that your information is legible! If you do not want to write directly on the back of the paper, please use drafting tape, or some other adhesive that will not damage or easily fall off your work. (We want to know who you are!)

3. Send or drop off your work to: Works on Paper Cuchifritos gallery, 120 Essex Street, New York, NY 10002. (Directions). Important Note: If you are dropping work off work in person, please come by during regular gallery hours: 12:00 noon to 5:30 pm, Monday through Saturday. (Cuchifritos phone No. 212-598-4124)

4. SUBMISSION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, MARCH 7, 2008. All work must be received in the gallery by March 7, 2008, if it is to be exhibited on Saturday, March 8. If you are mailing your work, please make sure to allow sufficient time for delivery.

5. This is a benefit for Artists Alliance, Inc. (AAI), an artist run not-for-profit visual artist organization that supports a rotating studio program, an alternative gallery space, and a host of other contemporary art programs. [Note: If you wish to have your work returned-in the event that it does not sell, please include a self addressed stamped envelope. Due to the nature of the event, AAI is unable to arrange for the return your work unless a
self addressed stamped envelope is included. Pick up after the event is problematic since another exhibition will load in directly after the benefit.]

*All works will be sold for under $80, providing new and established collectors with an excellent opportunity to economically invest in a wide selection of diverse emerging artists, while at the same time investing in the future of the arts on the Lower East Side!
