Artists Alliance (AAI) is pleased to announce its Open Call for the Lower East Side Rotating Studio Program (LES-RSP) 2009 sessions. Supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and artist members of AAI, the Lower East Side-Rotating Studio Program provides two FREE six- month residency sessions to 8 visual artists a year.

What the residency offers:

Six-month long residency

FREE studio space (see description)
Access to the studios 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Opportunities to present works to curators, critics, arts professionals, and the general public
AAI organizes Open Studios during each session and an annual curated exhibition of all 8 residents at Cuchifritos gallery/project space, a program of AAI located in Essex Street Market

Located in the vibrant and historically significant multicultural neighborhood of the Lower East Side, the AAI Studio Programs underscores AAI's mission to support the careers of emerging and mid-career artists working in all fields. The LES-RSP Studio Program is open to emerging, mid-career artists from all cultural backgrounds and disciplines - painting, photography, sculpture, video, installation and new media will be accepted. Only US legal residents may apply.

Session 1 begins January - June, 2009
Session 2 begins July - December, 2009

Artists may apply for both sessions
